Numerical Simulation of Transport Phenomena in Directional Solidification Castings with Changeable Cross-Section and Solidification Interface Control

چکیده
The roles of traveling magnetic fields (TMFs) within the transport phenomena during directional solidification nickel-based superalloys were simulated. evolution thermal field, flow field and solid-liquid interface morphology process under both natural forced convection conditions also simulated compared. strength TMFs window that suppresses interfacial front in melt was quantified. association between velocity at defect formation discussed.

A study on the microstructure development of as-cast Cu-Mn alloys based around the congruent minimum at 34.6 wt % Mn and 873 oC was performed. Initially, this was to evaluate the alloy as an alternative to wide freezing range Pb and Sn bronzes that are plagued with poro...
متن کاملSolidification in Square Section
The objective of the present work is to develop a numerical model to analyze melting solidification process considering the natural convection phenomena to an alloy metal in a square section. Physical medium is taken as incompressible Newtonian fluid with isotropy thermal properties where the heat is transferred by conduction and convection, including de thermal phase change phenomenon. The las...
متن کاملSolidification Phenomena and Properties of Some Cast Tool Steels
The freezing process. microstructures and phase relationships in some experimental cast tool steels have been investigated and developed under the various solidification conditions. Experimental steels were based on AISI M2 and M10 grades high speed steels. Addition of carbide forming elements such as niobium and titanium with and without extra carbon were made to the molten bath of the base st...
